Well Jonny
Another challenge completed in Sowerby this weekend and I am the new Back Marker...
Sowerby Bridge is lovely at this time of year. A beautiful rustic bandit country smalltown set below sea level it would seem judging from the sweeping gorges that climb up for miles all around. Sunshine, wind, rain, hill fog, wind, rain, clouds, sunshine...
Super Sammy : 2h 39m
The Boy : 2h 40m
Bionyc Ben : 2h 49m
The Foot : 3h 10m
Yours truly : 3h 44m
26 miles of pain
The winner did it in 1h 54m... nutter...

Keep strong.

Hey up Jon.
The saga continues this weekend with another blast on the bikes in Sowerby Bridge. Locals tell me this one isn't for the faint hearted but we've still managed to rope in Super Sammy, Byonic Ben, The Boy, The Foot and yours truly... Barge painters and basket weavers beware - the not-so-famous-five are up for the challenge of the Calderdale Mountain Bike Marathon. We even get a T shirt if we finish.
Keep fighting...

just a link to the horrible hairy beer bellied bikers on their hogs who dug deep and contributed to the jonny willy fund, god bless ya lads. (I was sat on the wall outside the beer garden taking some well needed oral rehydration therapy, purely for medicinal and sporting performance of course) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1N5-16bXVpQ

Big hello to all fellow C2C survivors!

WE DID IT and in some style too. When i met up with a few the Friday before i knew only two, the Thursday on departure that had risen to three but by Sunday afternoon i had had the best 3 and 1/2 days with 35 other blokes in a very long while - Absolutely fantastic the whole adventure. And what an adventure - not only the cycling either.

Needing to get back to earning some money now so can save for the next gathering we have in aid of Jonny, who by the way was in decent form on Monday - put it all into perspective.

Anyway catch up with you all soon,

Brendan
(1st past the post then last day last group with also last man standing all in the space of three days- possibly something to do with James Smith introducing me to Mark Battey!)

THANK YOU! Just wanted to say thank you to everyone involved this weekend for making it such a special event.
PAIN! Never known anything like it. Don`t know whether it`s from the physical exertion, falling off (thanks Coley) or the laughter.
There are so many people to thank but special mention should go to David and Mick for their support services and special lunches. All the pasties went all the fruit was left.
James at Shepley Spring for all his help and the use of his car park, and copious amounts of free water. Not sure I would buy it voluntarily after seeing how much piss was flying down his bore holes as we set off and arrived back.
Bob Holt. A true sporting legend. The hole ride armed with swimming shorts and a pair of Crocs. My nomination for "Sports Personality Of The Year" especially given the Superman manoeuvre.
Finally I have applied today to have Mr David Caldwell and Mr Andrew Foot officially sectioned on the grounds of " Wilful Delusion "
150 miles Coast to Coast! My arse! More like 165. " Last day is a piece of piss. It`s predominantly downhill" Didn`t feel like it while I was crying facing the 8th 1:1 MOUNTAIN.
Would I do it again ? Definitely. The banter was mighty and hopefully if it happens again we can get Jonny on board to make the banter the truly mighty.
Maybe see you all next year if not sooner for the reunion, minus Footy and the mighty Cod whalla who will have been sectioned!

What a weekend! Can't believe some of those hills. I feel like I've been tied up and someone's been smacking my thighs wi planks of wood. I've removed the panty pads now from my underwear and still have to be a little careful sitting down. Me and Boff wondered if it would've been considered girly to start crying as we rode the last part round the harbour. Then 10 minutes later we did....with laughter as the marvel that is C.Day rode down the slip, onto the beach and went over the handlebars!!! Then, as 7 of us waited to dip our wheels together, he strode up and launched his 'Goose 250 into the sea!! Great to be part of it. Great to meet new people and make some new friends......Thanks folks, Jep. Oh, and if your grandparents are into walking....tell em to keep out my way!

Well, its done,

Without understating whats gone on over these last few days, its been some bloody achievement by all involoved wether it be the logistics and support team or the riders or the hotel staff at the various places we stayed along the route its been one hell of an good show and Im damn proud to have been a part of it.

Ive got memories of places, seen some of the finest most breathtaking scenery this magnificent country of ours has to offer and memories of people which just make me titter to myself like a teenage school girl which will endure long into the future, hopefully the muscle pains and the swollen joints won't last as long.

Would I do it again ? my first forray into any kind of organised sporting activity since standing on the frozen second reserve football pitch in scenes worthy of those from 'Kes' at Fartown High trying to keep warm and hating every second..

I dunno... jonnywilly c2c 2010 anyone ?
